Bringing the pieces together to build a Safer Community...

The San Juan Safe Communities Initiative is a partnership between public and private entitiesincluding: city, county and state governments, prevention experts, treatment providers, social service agencies, business community, the faith community, schools, law enforcement, local judges and the drug court program, health care providers, and concerned citizens.
Many agencies are currently working in San Juan County to reduce substance abuse and criminal activity. We believe that with the nature of the current problems facing the county (especially Methamphetamines and Gangs), we must have a comprehensive approach to solving them. Our premise is that we can accomplish a great deal more if we consolidate our efforts and work together toward achieving our mutual goals.
The San Juan Safe Communities Initiative, Inc. is attempting to do something few communities in this nation have been able to accomplish. Our goal is to draw upon our most valuable resource, our people, to achieve our shared goals. We believe that a comprehensive community-wide approach to solving our comprehensive community-wide problems is the only way we will be able to sustain lasting change. By bringing together committed, dedicated citizens and providing a voice for every segment of the population, maintaining our focus of collaboration and cooperation, and promoting our strategic vision for San Juan County, we will achieve a safe community

"You Matter" (UmattR.com) Trading Card Program

The program promotes 12 High School Seniors with diverse interests who are committed to living drug, alcohol and tobacco free. They serve as mentors to younger kids while at the same time honing the skills necessary to become our future community leaders. They excel in various extracurricular personal interests and skills, including athletics, FFA, photography, music, dance, computers or other such positive activities. Each senior is featured on their own trading card which they take to area elementary schools and events to sign for younger students. At this time they discuss their positive choices and hope to mentor these students to become positive, future leaders themselves.
After the younger students have collected all 12 cards and have them signed, they may then enter a drawing to win prizes at Kidfest, held the first part of June of each year. For all the hard work they do throughout the year, the teens will receive a $1,000 scholarship at the end of the program. The program is designed to promote real world positive role models for children. These teens are positive peer mentors and role models who are an important factor in the future choices of the younger generations. Each senior signs a contract to do a minimum of 15 school visits or community events throughout the school year, delivering their message to hundreds of their peers, younger children, parents and other adults.
By investing in the “You Matter” (UmattR.com) Program you will:
- Be building youth leadership skills and peer mentoring for the community.
- Be promoting a drug free message in the schools and in San Juan County communities.
- Gain exposure for your business through your logo / message on the trading cards, posters, flyers, PSA's websites, newsletters, paper, radio, banners, and community events.
- Be supporting the idea of creating a safer community, one child at a time. This starts by helping kids learn to make good choices at an early age.

Skate Into the Future!
Unique Sponsorship Opportunities
Sycamore Park Community Center would like to invite you to support “Skate Into The Future.” With enough funding we will be able build a small, supervised skate park at Sycamore Park as part of this program to provide at-risk youth living in South Farmington with physical recreation, educational opportunities, and nutrition education – as well as character development and job skills training.
Tax Deductible
Sycamore Park Community Center is a non-profit agency as part of the City of Farmington. While the City of Farmington is not a 501(c)3 organization, donations are still tax-deductible.
Fundraising Goal
These sponsorship opportunities are one stage of a four-stage fundraising strategy to raise nearly $100,000 through grants and fundraising to completely fund the skate park.
Sponsorship Levels
360 Hardflip – $1,000 (5 spots available)
- Your corporate name, logo, address, phone listed as a top-level sponsor on a large, permanent donor board in the Sycamore Park Community Center.
360 Hardflip – One of the most difficult tricks for any skateboarder, no matter their skill level, is the 360 hardflip. Aptly named, the hardflip is a difficult combination of a kickflip and a shove-it. This trick is performed by making the board rotate 360 degrees on both its x-axis and y-axis.
Backside 180 Kickflip – $800 (10 spots available)
- Your corporate name and logo listed as a 2nd-teir sponsor on a large, permanent donor board in the Sycamore Park Community Center.
Backside 180 Kickflip – This is a stylish and powerful advanced skateboard maneuver.
Heelflip – $500 (20 spots available)
- Your corporate name listed as a 3rd-teir sponsor on a large, permanent donor board in the Sycamore Park Community Center.
Heelflip – The heelflip is an aerial skateboarding trick where the skateboarder kicks his board in order to make it flip 360 degrees along the board's long axis.
Ollie – $100 (20 spots available)
- Your name listed in the “Individual Donor” section of a large, permanent donor board in the Sycamore Park Community Center.
Ollie – The ollie is a fundamental trick in skateboarding. As so many other tricks depend on it, the ollie is often the first trick to be learned by a new skateboarder.
