PREVENTION TASK FORCE STRATEGIC PLAN for SAN JUAN COUNTY
GOAL ONE: Improve the quality of life for youth and families in San Juan County.
Objective One: Provide education and information based on community needs to community entities and the community at large four times a year.
Activities
- Review communities needs assessments annually and determine priority community needs.
- Connect prevention strategies across disciplines, e.g., domestic and sexual violence, tobacco, alcohol and other drug abuse by developing a multi-disciplinary display.
- Make a list of who is missing from the table at the March meeting.
- Make a list of planned community events at the March meeting.
- Create the display for upcoming community events, including Riverfest-Memorial Day weekend.
- Provide education to the community on how to be proactive in reducing violence against women.
- Provide community events that offer drug-free information to parents and youth.
- Work with the media, print, air and through technology to promote prevention strategies.
- Get information to Farmington Insights, Chamber of Commerce, and Aztec Talon.
- Provide IHS Injury Prevention Training to the community.
- Secure date and location.
- Support media literacy training countywide.
- Schedule media literacy training for Task Force in April.
Objective Two: Provide information and resources on effective prevention strategies to communities in San Juan County four times a year.
Activities
- Link multi-disciplinary prevention efforts.
- Support the positive community norms approach.
- Review anti-gang legislation and support as appropriate.
- Review underage drinking legislation and support as appropriate.
- Support peer education development.
