Mayor Roberts Proclaims 2015 to be the year of Civility First

Tommy Roberts, Mayor of Farmington, proclaims 2015 to be the year of “Civility First Four Corners” during the January 13th City Council Meeting. Melissa Meechan presented to council, “The Idea of Civility First is to build positive relationships, focus on the positive things we do in Farmington, and to promote general good will.” She explained how it developed from the “Minority Issues Round Table” and grew into the current campaign.

Civility First Four Corners is a project of the City of Farmington and the City’s Community Relations Commission. San Juan College, San Juan Reproduction, DNA Legal Services, Stoad Print, and Cascade Bottled Water are sponsors of the initiative. Meechan highlighted several local businesses as “Hallmark Program Participants.” The Hallmark businesses such as: American General Media, Freytag & Farrar Jewelers, Great Harvest Bread Co, Hutton Plazza Dry Cleaners, Parker’s Office Products, Quality Appliance, and Sun Glass, are known for their quality work and quality customer service. Sun Glass was recently featured in the Daily Times for their efforts.

Mayor Roberts offered congratulations to Melissa Meechan, Lynn Love, and Cathryn Abeyta as well as the Community Relations Commission for taking on a project that focuses on education and outreach in order to improve relations in our diverse community.
