Mayor's Table: UmattR - San Juan Safe Communities Initiative | Episode 148

In this episode of The Mayor’s Table, Mayor Nate Duckett sits down with UmattR (You Matter) coordinator Vicki Campbell and teen leaders Maddie, Marley, and Graham to highlight this prevention program that is part of the San Juan Safe Communities Initiative.

UmattR empowers young people to make healthy choices, strengthen their mental well-being, and become active members of their schools and communities. Through real stories of resilience, kindness, and overcoming hardship, the teens share how faith, friendship, and support networks can make all the difference.

Now in its 17th year, UmattR reaches hundreds of students across San Juan County with assemblies, skits, and honest conversations about mental health, bullying, and living drug- and alcohol-free. The group has grown to 23 members - selected from more than 300 applicants - who serve as positive role models and youth ambassadors for hope.
